I got a call on Dec 4 2014. I am always careful about scams but these guys knew my windows 7 serial number and associated it with my ISP. I looked for them online and could not find anything on them until i googled their telephone number today and got this forum. I feel so foolish. I paid them 200$ and just today the guy called back wanting to help me some more. Same voice. So I called Windows directly and explained it to them and they told me that they would never contact someone by phone and that this is obviously a scam. I called Chase and they agreed to take the charge off my card and they could not find any info on this company on their end. I am so frustrated that the scammers finally got me after being vigilant for so many years.
Received a phone call from this number today. The person, identifying themselves as "Mike Miller" (I.D# DC101), said they were from The Testra Tech Department.
He mentioned that Testra had authority to turn off our internet within two hours due to our computer having ".. a virus that is sending corrupt information back to Telstra.." and was calling just to give that information. To this I mentioned we weren't with Telstra and that we had internet security on ALL our computers that did scans on a regular basis.
He said it did not matter who we were with as the phone line was still Telstra's. He asked me to "..go to your computer, turn it on and I can show you..". It sounded quite off after I mentioned we had multiple computers, how could he know which one? To this he said it didn't matter which computer I would use.
I made excuses that I would have to call him back and then go through the proceedure with him. Writing down all the info he gave to me, I then did a search on the number and found this forum. I am glad I made the excuse to find that it was a scam.
I did exactly the same thing. He was put off by the fact that I was doing a trace on his number but that it did show up and then found these forum. He was gone fast!!
