"Consumer services calling in reference to your current credit card". At least they left a voicemail message. I'm glad I have stopped answering numbers I don't recognize.
Got a call from this number, answered and it was an automated message regarding my credit cards. The recording prompted me to press 1 to lower my interest rates. I almost hung up, but instead I pressed 5.
I was connected to this very nice young man that informed me we were speaking because I pressed 1 to lower my interest rates. He asked to confirm, I said "oh, I don't know. I did hit a button didn't I." He told me that he pulled up my account and said it shows here that your credit card interest rates are more than 10%, that limit on my credit card is more than $4000 and that even though I pay my bill on time they are still charging me interest. He asks, "is this correct?" This is pretty broad.
He told me that he works for Visa MasterCard and has the authority of Experian to lower my interest rate. He's at the headquarters there.
He asked me to confirm my credit card expiration date. I played dumb and said oh I don't know I think next year. He said "Ma'am you don't know? You have to confirm the credit card in order to qualify. Just take a look at it." I said "I think it's June. It's a little 7." He was very happy with how dumb I seem to be and asked if the account started with a 4. I said, "oh yeah. How did you know?" He said "I have the account number here I just need you to confirm it. Can you read all the numbers to me starting left to right."
I very sweetly read him the riot act and let him know what a waste he is - he informed me that I was an expletive and could expletive his expletive.
Good talk.
P. S. Answer the phone to these jerks. Waste their time, slow their productivity and do your part to make sure they have a tough time sleeping on the stack of cash they funneled out of your elderly neighbors bank account. We may not be able to stop them, but we can certainly stall them, throw them off their game and hopefully halt their momentum.
apparently it must be a scammer. I got the same call but with caller ID,
if I don't know the number or there's no name I don't answer eventually they will get tired and won't call anymore. Or if it's a political party calling hopefully these calls will stop after the election in Nov.
