Called today, a man asked my answering machine if this was [my first name] then hung up.
I always answer, never know if a friend or family member had a car wreck and someone is calling for them on a strange phone. If a telemarketing machine answers I let it play and play and play until it disconnects, busying up that machine as long as I can (put it on speaker and just continue doing what I was doing before the phone rang). This makes that machine a little less profitable for them, calling fewer people than if I hung up immediately allowing it to dial the next victim sooner, more calls per day. It would be nice if everyone did that. Anyone calling in person asking for info or money is just not getting any. Any caller advertising in person - duct cleaning, etc. I ask the company name, tell them they have broken the law ignoring the DNC list and that I black list companies who do. I use to ask for a supervisor and offer to allow them to pay me something in exchange for not reporting their violation and they getting fined for more. They didn't care.
Call came today around 5:30 PM dec 2nd 2015 and Caller ID displayed "unavailable 301-242-3036" and as usual no VM was left. Since no VM was left, the call wasn't important to begin with.
