They just called me 2 minutes ago, and said they same thing their telling everyone else and asked me if i had 2 minutes then asked me if i had 15 minutes to complete a survey i just hung up
I contacted the CDC via the gov't website. It is a legit caller. I received this email in response:

The telephone call that you received asking you to participate in a tobacco survey was placed by Westat, a CDC contractor that is assisting CDC with the National Adult Tobacco Survey (NATS). This important survey collects information about adult tobacco use, knowledge, and attitudes.
Tobacco use is the leading cause of preventable deaths in the United States. The data collected through this survey are very useful in helping CDC and state tobacco control programs plan and provide information and services regarding tobacco control and prevention.
Information gathered through this survey is strictly confidential. Should you decide to participate, you will not be asked to provide your name, address, or any other personal information that can identify you. CDC greatly values the information gathered through this survey. Be assured that if you don't wish to respond to a question, that's fine. The interviewer will simply note that the question was not answered.
CDC hopes that you will consider participating in the survey. If you have questions about the survey, you can contact Westat toll free at 1-888-878-0494.

Kristin ~ TY for the explanation. Despite your info about the CDC being a legitimate agency, they called me Sunday evening. My tax dollars at work? (weekend = premium pay) I told the woman that Sunday is my day of worship and rest. She asked if she can call back another time. I told her I have no interest in participating. Facts about the effects of smoking are available from medical (doctor, hospital, and health care) reports and statistics.
This number called today and left a message on the answering machine then proceeded to put my call through to a queue which played music. Idiots. The two people posting before me stated that this call is legit and from the CDC. Why in the world would they call on SUNDAY? I did report this to the DoNotCall.gov site though. I hope they get enough complaints that they shut this "program" down. It's stupid and a waste of tax payer dollars and a nuisance to those who they choose to call. I really hate that the government is becoming what it is. But it's our fault, though not mine.. I didn't vote that way. So those of us who are smart enough to see behind this magicians curtain are still forced to deal with the changes and the stupid decisions of the administration.
