you looked up the number of your employer? Why would you do that?
As to how this scam works, they send you a check, tell you to cash it, send money somewhere, and eventually the check turns out to be no good and you are stuck for the money and the bank fees.
Or as an alternative you are to receive packages and resend them somewhere.
This is absolutely a scam! There is no Jennifer Nichole and there is no real job offer. Tezt back and tell "jennifer" you want to speak to HR via phone about the job....you'll never hear from "Jennifer" again.
Got a tex message from this number 3014586465 know my name and ask me if thats me and when I said and who are you reply came in with a Company from TX which got my resume.... I have not sent a resume to anyone. Is the second weird text I got today from phone number like that told him to stop sending me fraud text....
(number: 301.458.6465) I received a text message from a Mr. Mark Joe from Plexus Worldwide. It's similar to other stories I've read here, offering a "work from home" position. Of course, the text is already a red flag for me, so I immediately looked up the company (which was legit) and the number. Not sure where they got my number, but it could have been from ZipRecruiter, as I have received scams emails after applying for jobs posted on their app before. I'm assuming that they must not have a very good vetting system, if they have one at all, but I started getting these fishing scams after I started applying for jobs on this specific app. However, it would not surprise me if all recruiter apps are prone to it.
