I applied for a balance transfer and the next day the Credit Dept. of BOA had left me a message from this number..I was a bit skeptical..When she asked for my SS#...I asked if this was about my Balance transfer and she said yes..I said well here we go..I gave her the info and she went over my application with me..I felt better when she read the info the I had included on the application.. She also knew ALL the debts and questioned me on previous loans outstanding...So Its legit...I believe its an outsourced credit approval company that banks use..So for its a bit hard to say any banks name.. LMHO..  God forbid If I see anything strange ..I will be right back here reporting it...

I applied for a credit card from BOA a few days ago. I got a call from 302-458-4399. Then I heard some recorded message, basiclly asking me to call 866-865-7840. I am skeptical about this and I checked this website. Then I decided to give it a try. I called the 866 number. A lady picked up the phone and asked me my name, my zip code. (NOT my ssn, Not my address). Then it seems they know my application materials, such as where I work, how much I earn every year (as I put in my application). Then it seems she pulled out my credit profile and my card was approved. The credit limit is the same as when I applied.  I also gave them my checking account number because I want to do a balance transfer. Everything seems fine so far. Is there anything fishy? Is it safe to give them my checking account info (account number and routing number)?

I got the same thing, a call from the 302-458-4399, leaving a message to call 866 865 7840. Instead, I called BOA's phone number from their website, and took care of it that way (btw, they initially asked for my SSN, but I was able to give my name, zip code, and mother's maiden name, and didn't have to give out my SSN).

I told him that I was concerned about how legit the number was, and that others (you guys) were concerned about it as well. He said it was legit, and that it's a new program, trying to get people to call them instead of trying to catch people at the right time. I suggested that they list the number on the site so that people would know it's legit. He said he appreciated it and that he would pass my comments on.

Just got a voicemail from this number saying it was BOA and when I called it back from my work phone, the girl answered the phone "hi, can I have your social security number please".  There was no reference to being a financial institution and when I refused to give the SSN, her follow up question was for my name and address so that she could then look up which credit card/financial institution I was calling in reference to.  This is a blatant scam!!
