I get these all of the time, people saying I owe money to such and such corporation and saying if I don't settle this now, I will be arrested and charged for theft or check fraud. They have all of this really old information about me, which a lot of it is not even true! (My ss# was wrong, they said I worked for a company I NEVER worked for and a bank I never used!) They had an old address and used my maiden name which I have been married way longer than they were saying this account was supposedly opened. Of course I could settle it privately with them, by paying them off over the phone, but if I didn't, I would be sent to court. I told her to send me, that I have the proof I need that will get the case thrown out and I will sue them for my time wasted. She promptly hung up on me!
Caller claimed I defrauded a company. When I began asking questions (date of claim, issuing bank, issuing company, etc...) I was given a bank I had closed my account out with years before, a company I had never made purchases from, and an address I hadn't lived at for almost 10 years. As soon as I mentioned my attorneys name and number the lady got very defensive and hung up the phone! Total SCAM!
Use your reasoning powers on this. Legitimate debt collectors send a letter to you so that you can comply with the law by asking for validation of the claim. They do not call and threaten to send a sheriff to serve you papers. If they're serving you they'll serve you without a phone call to let you know they're on their way.
This is probably an off shore scam with the tech capability of appearing to come from Delaware.
I received a call from this number for a debt that I'm paying another company right now!!! When I advised him he started acting like he couldn't hear me then he called my job. I called him with a manager in the background and I told him again this time I told him to give me a fax number which he didn't have I asked for an address and he gave me 734 Washington Rd Clover De 23314 there is no Clover in Delaware and that zip code belongs to a VA city
