Same as all above. Number that came through was 302-536-2561 - from a 'Mike Rivers". Left same number and a ficticious case number. Never identified company - which is TOTALLY ILLEGAL
Number has been reported to state authorities and they are aware of this debt collecting scam.
Exactly the same as the person above me. Called my moms roommates phone and she passed the message on to me. I called and a "mike rivers" with "smg mediation" said I had an unpaid debt from "bahama marketing". When I told him that I needed his company info to pass onto my lawyer he responded by saying to give him my lawyers information and that he would call them. So I told him I read his ripoff report and that I would pass on the info myself and he said ok and hung up.
I too have received several calls from this company under the phone number 302-526-1482 that I have refused to answer because they left a message saying that I am being investigated for check fraud. I am not in very good health and this kind of thing makes for a stressful day and effects my health. I am glad I found these posts because the message scared me.
Caller claims the name of Rosalyn Banks. That name has been reported in several phone scam attempts across the internet. She claims she works for the "legal processing firm" of Christopher, Pearce and Washington which does not exist. She has also stated in previous scam attempts that she works for "LTL Legal Processing Firm". She is an African American woman and has no physical location and will not give out an address. I traced the phone number, 234-300-3475, to coordinates in Akron, Ohio. There is no law firm or any legal industry business in this area. She has also used a phone number in or near Albany, GA to attempt to steal money from her victims.
She has some critical information such as last 4 of social security number and possibly copies of old, paid checks you wrote including the addresses you once lived at based on what's printed on the check under your name. She is claiming you wrote bad checks and attempted theft by deception and is giving you the "option" to pay her $500-$700 over the phone or else deal with sever legal ramifications. She quotes bogus legal codes as scare tactics to create a sense of insecurity within the victim that they may dealing with someone that is very educated and well versed in law. She will not give out an address, will not forward any validation to your home address or email address, and will not explain anything in any detail outside of her phone script. She will not transfer the call to an attorney either of course.
