I got a call at 10:10am EST this morning. It was a prerecorded telemarketing message: "Hello, this is Rachael from cardholder services.." I immediately hung up, then came to this webpage, read all of the other complaints, and was glad I didn't waste another second. Thanks to all of you for your reports. We need to help each other, for no one else cares who harrasses us!

This number called me when I was on the other line and I did not get it in time.  I called it back and got the weird beeps others have mentioned, but never did hear a recording.  Just beeps.  Reverse look-up gives a West Virginia location for this number.  I have an unpublished number I have only given out to a few people.  I don't know anyone in West Virginia.

Have received 3 calls in the last week from this same number (304/445/5940).  I am on both the federal and state Do Not Call lists.  In addition, knowing about the TCP act and how consumers may be compensated if telemarketers violate their rights, I always keep track of all info pertaining to scam and BS calls.

I tracked down a number for CardMember Services (877/999/3872).  Spoke with both Rep Liz Michaels and Mgr Sam Gross regarding the calls and the aspects about the calls that violate the TCP act.  (CardMember Services is a group that works for both Chase and First USA.)  He advised me that currently they are NOT authorized to extend lower interest rates for ANY of their cards or cardholders and that the calls are not coming from them.  They do not have offices in W VA; their nearest office being in Wilmington DE.  In addition, their Securities Office is looking into the matter as they have heard about this from numerous consumers.    He advised me that they consider them phishing calls and are done as an attempt to obtain your credit card number and/or other personal identifying items (ex. ssn, dob, etc).  He advised that anyone receiving calls from this group to obtain any pertinent info (callback number, names, dates of call, times of call, etc) and report it to them and their Securities Office.  The callback number for such info is 1-800-945-2000.

He sounded on the up and up, but I figure the FTC has more resources than I personally do, so I will also be reporting all of this info to them to allow further research on their parts.  Anyways, hope it helps.  Happy Holidays to all!!

Boy, from the dates and times on previous messages, "Rachel from Cardmember Services" sure is busy today. I feel so bad for those who do not have the Internet to see the warning posts, don't look it up if they do, or are elderly and don't even know about these scammers. They have to be the only reason those idiots stay in business.

Maybe, if everyone who posts here, or reads here, will file a complaint at https://esupport.fcc.gov/ccmsforms/form1088.action (link goes straight to the form at the FCC website), it will at least frustrate the FCC enough into doing something more than taking complaints. You can also call to complain to 1-888-CALL FCC (1-888-225-5322).

Please help protect those who don't know how to protect themselves by filing complaints to shut these scammers and spammers down for good. It is illegal to misrepresent yourself, to use a pre-recorded message, or to call those on the DNC list, so there are plenty of reasons to report these people.

I just got a call from this number 30 seconds ago on my mobile.  It started ringing and then went immediately to the voicemail.
