Turn your ringer down on your phone or leave the phone off the hook.My ex used to do that since he worked nights and did not want phone calls waking him up.
I only have 2 words to describe my method of handling idiots ---- ANSWERING MACHINE. It rings, & if it is a legit call, I return the message. Sometimes I am amused at some of them, such as the more recent one about the IRS having a lawsuit against you. Sad to say ------ some people are naive enough to fall for that crap. That is why those calls continue..........the old, old saying is still true ---- "there is a sucker born every day".
FYI -- The calls are NOT triggered by having a DELL. We do not. And it not simply when you turn it on. I was working of mine for over a couple of hours before the idiots called me. It is pure, random or robo dialing that they are using.
You are correct. The "your computer is infected" scam is probably the longest running on this website. The short answer is that anyone cold calling saying they can "see" you have a computer problem is a scammer, there are no exceptions. There is a warning about this scam on the Microsoft website.
A man with an Indian accent sort of offered me a service to clean from scams my computer for some $40. There was too much noise, it was difficult to understand what the man said.
