Got a check in the mail from these guys claiming to be a life assurance refund thru my mortgage company. I called my mortgage co. and they said that they do not insure their customers thru this so-called company. I called the company itself and they hung up on me once, called them again and left me on hold. They kept asking me if I have a policy with them even after I told them that I never did and never will.
I'm going to shred this check. Seriously consider researching before you cash any check when you don't know its origin.

The check might have been issued to the wrong client and sent to your mailing address by accident. It's unfortunate that an Insurance company would make such a mistake but it is possible. I work for an Insurance Broker and have to admit it has happened before. American Bankers is definitely a well known Insurance carrier and has been arround for many years.
Received a call from 305 253-2244 on 8 Septemember 2009 9:45 a.m. P.S.T. I googled it out of Florida American Bankers Life Insurance Co of Fl. They called once and when my answering machine kicked in they hung-up, She called back again 1 minute later and left a message on the answering machine it was from someone by the name of Shreana and was looking for Joseph Matt gave another number of 800 852-2244 ext. 34242 said she was from the claims dept with a claim number of 00100740296. I did not call back. Be aware! Maybe some type of scam. Hope the information helps? Dennis.
