They called and said they were my grandchild who was in jail and needed money to get out. He supposedly traveled to Florida for a funeral and got arrested for a DUI. He said a lawyer would call back with details. A "lawyer" called back a couple minutes later with additional details about the arrest and said he called grandpa because he didn't want to call his mom and dad. We said we needed to call his mom first to make sure. He was home in bed, and calls back to the number went direct to voicemail.
12/2 & 12/309 I received 2 calls from this number on my cell. On 12/2 returned the call and it said it was a non-working number. I received a call again on 12/3. I didn't respond to it. Who is this? How do we stop it?
Called my cell phone this afternoon, but stopped ringing before I could pick it up. Did not leave message. I called back: "incorrect number". This is illegal and the only thing I can think of is to report to the federal do not call registry or to your telephone company. If they get enough complaints, they will take action.
