***A company must be licensed in their state as well as the one they are trying to collect in if two different states are involved.
Some Tips:
*Keep all messages
*Take a picture of your Caller ID
*Keep any and all conversations recorded to your states recording laws, some require they be told, others do not. This can be transferred to a recording device.
*Keep a notebook handy for writing time, date, who you spoke with and what the conversation detailed.
*Check your SOL for your state as well.
*Attorneys need to be licensed as a DC to collect, all DC's must be licensed in their state as well as yours if different.

just called me claiming I was a point of contact for my sister (whom I have not had any contact with in over 10 years, and whom also does NOT, and never did, have my cell number).
When they mentioned my sisters name and asked if I knew her I told them she was my sister and they started going on about a summons to court and that if I failed to provide her with this information she would be considered a no show and a judgement would be entered against her...
I immediately told them I am not responsible for her and I sure as hell am not a point of contact for her (I have no contact information for her and last I heard she changed her name to some jewish name so I couldn't find her if I wanted to) and they need to delete my phone number.
What ever happen between you and your sister, you need to try to forgive and ask for forgivemess. 10 years -- man dont hold that disconnection too long. Dont let it be too late.
They called me about a brother I haven't been In contact with for years, saying they were from the sheriffs office and he had a warrant, I asked them for additional Info and they said they couldn't give it to me directly but that he could give me another ph# to call, it sounded like a scam to be honest so I told tell them to never call me again
