This idiot contacted me via a blocked number after I posted on Craigslist that I wanted to purchase tickets to a music festival - 4 VIP passes @ $450 a piece. Given that I have bought tickets off of Ebay/CL before, I know how a legitimate ticket sale/purchase goes. I told him that I wanted the tickets, but that the transaction would have to take place over PayPal and/or Ebay. He said "No, this is how I've always done it. The tickets will be delivered to you COD via FedEx, but you have to go to Homeland and wire the money via Western Union." I then told him "Hey, no disrespect intended, but I don't know you from Adam, and this could easily be a scam." He got defensive and irritated, saying "I'm just trying to do YOU a favor...YOU are the one who posted the ad!" The idiot actually tried to blame me for posting an ad!

He kept hanging-up and saying that he had to pack-up his tools, that he was at work, and he'd call back in a few minutes. This happened about 6 times. He wanted to know our ZIP code, etc. He also gave the story that he worked for a concert promotion company, and that his wife just had twins and he needed to sell the free tix that the promotion company had given him to pay some bills. He had a very shifty-sounding voice....almost like he was tweaking on meth or something.

Finally, when I was pretty sure he was a scam artist, I told him that I would wire him the money, but he'd have to use USPS. He said "Why do you want to use US Post Service, huh?" I told him "Because when you take my money and don't send the tickets, you will have committed a federal crime and you will go to prison."

He hung up and never called back.

During our conversation I did manage to get a phone number and a name. He said his name was Trent Glass. After he hung up I did an internet search using the phone number he gave and found this site, and sure enough....my suspicions were confirmed. I'm so glad I called his bluff and told him that he would go to jail. Too bad he's not been caught. Yet.

Posted ad on Craig's List for Masters Tickets.  "Trent Glaus" emailed me right away and wanted my phone # in order to talk about tickets he had for sale.  He assured me he wasn't a ticket broker and that these tickets had been in his family for years.  His father had died of a brain tumor last year and he didn't want to let the tickets go since he would never get them again.  He asked me what I would be willing to pay and agreed to $600.  He couldn't go because his wife was pregnant with twins.  He was an architect working for the Marriott.  His address was 18 Ocean Blvd Penthouse #2  Miami, FL  His email was [email protected].  When I questioned the different name he said Blair was his middle name.  He seemed too familiar with the process of sending the money (from Publix with a debit card just like the others).  He wanted me to stay on the line with him the entire time that I was to drive to Publix.  He said FedEx was only two blocks from where he lives so there was no use to hang up.  I told him my phone battery was going dead and for him to call me back.  he called me within two minutes.  He must be fast getting to the car and driving two blocks.  He assured me the tickets would be authentic and he would include a letter from Augusta and a copy of his drivers license.  the money would not be released until the tickets were in hand and examined and approved by me.  His phone number was "blocked" when he called back.  He kept talking about a COD receipt which I find out from these postings is actually a money order.  When I hesitated he hung up on me.  I can't believe that I was considering doing this transaction.  Boy, have I learned alot.  I guess you have to go with your gut.  If it sounds too good to be true.......
