These people call me at least 5 times a day. They actually called my ex-husband telling him that I signed his name to a document and that he also owes the money. Same story old payday loan from 2008. IT IS A COMPLETE SCAM. They try to intimidate you and scare you that you have a civil suit against you but what they don't realize is that you must be served a summons to appear in court. When asking them for a copy of the summons they hang up. But they are so stupid they continue calling.
Claim to be a recovery service out of Tampa for old debt that doesn't even appear on your credit report. If you ask them for proof of debt they say the only documentation they will provide you with is when they serve you for a summons to court. Fine by me since I know my credit and know I owe no one anything. To expect that people will really just pay you over the phone on your say so is ridiculous. When you look up the company name supposedly based in Tampa (yet phone number is for Miami on the opposite coast of FL) no company can be found. please do your research and demand proof before giving anyone money over the phone. If you owe a debt and they want their money, sending you documentation to support their claims will be no problem. They continue to call me each time claiming if I don't give them money it is moving to the next level to take me to court. I am still waiting.
Just got a call from them today, saying I owe them money and they just giving me a chance to pay before they take it to court. I will wait until then because I have no idea what their talking about!
I get this call 3-4 times a day but I do not answer it believing it to be spam. It was very helpful reading your post and will continue to not answer. I know my credit is good and have no debts due either. Wish it would just stop!!
Yep exactly as described above happen to me today...I was told I owe money. And the debt was from 5 years ago. Odd I asked for proof and I would pay if I have a debt. AS SOON AS I requested the paperwork be sent. I was told it was my credit and I'll be getting served. OK so how do we get rid of people like this ???
"Richard Porter" called on behalf of Lazer Lending , a payday loan company and said he was trying to collect unpaid debt working mediation before court in a civil suit regarding the debt of $450 (now totaling $1011.11) from 6 years ago. He wanted to "verify" the last 4 ssn digits...HA HA!!! He promptly hung up when asked his business address and phone number!!!!
