Just got that call again too. Same thing, says their from a charity but won't be direct. I just left a message with the "Make a Wish" lawyer in case this is fraud. I told him of this website and that other people were complaining about the same number. Hopefully if it is a scam, they will be shut down.
I used to volunteer for a charity so I hate to see scammers give charities a bad name. I'll let you guys know if I hear anything. (It may be a while since he is on vacation). In the meantime, If you answer this number, please get as much info from them as possible and report back in case the lawyer does check this website. It would be awesome if the scammers get shut down!
The caller asked for someone named Ms. My-Husband's-Last-Name. No such person exists, because I didn't change my name when we married. So they must have my husband's name but gambled that he has a wife with the same last name who would be more susceptible to telemarketing / phone donations, so they asked for "Ms." instead of "Mr." Well, it backfired.
Don't know who this is, but they've called my house multiple times over the past week, and i think i got a series of calls from this number earlier in the year as well. whoever is calling never leaves a message. usually w/ telemarketers, they disconnect the moment the answering machine kicks in. in this case, the disconnection doesn't happen until almost all the way through the machine's outgoing message. Don't know if that's significant or not.
