Just got an automated call today but could not understand the call back number. It stated to return call to IRS for legal lawsuit. I called the missed call # of 310-579-2813, The guy said he worked for the IRS and was an auditor by the name of Tom O'Brien Badge G1682414, he said there was a filing error in the amount I owed to the IRS was different from what was filed in the past 7 years. He also said I could very this by calling the IRS at 800-945-0989. I immediately thought it was a scam because I always file taxes with an accountant. I did not even bother to call that number. I checked the IRS site and that ph# was not listed there and after searching the internet found out a lot of people were getting calls from this number to scam them about owing money to the IRS. In the IRS website is states they never call people about taxes paid or unpaid, they are always contacted my mail. This is a scam and can report this incident to TIGTA at 800-366-4484 and also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov/complaint. Include “IRS Telephone Scam" in your complaint. I found all this on the internet, it is a scam, if any of these scammers talk to you do not give them any personal information and report them.
I received a phone call from this number to call them back and when I called him back he told me he was an officer for the IRS and I told him I've done nothing wrong so tell me what charges are in being charged with and he couldn't answer without putting me on hold so I stop them from putting me on hold and told him he's a scammer and he hung up
I just had the phone call and its all a scam don't answer the call or give any information out. This is the second time I receive this call, the first time i returned the call back and asked for their information to give to my lawyer and he hung up on me. They are not the IRS
I had a missed call from this #310-579-2813 and received a voicemail from an IRS agent Nicky Johnson that stated i need to return her call because of a lawsuit the IRS had against me. I returned the call and a gentleman with an Indian accent said his name was Jose Martinez claimed to be her supervisor said i was going to be arrested with in the hour. Also claimed to have had a sheriff go by my house and deliver the information but could not leave it because i was not home. When i asked for more information and put him on speaker so that co-workers could hear he got agitated with me and told me i was going to be arrested. The only information he could give me was my name and address (which i'm guessing is public info). I wish there more i could do.
I called them back and the guy gave me a whole deal saying I owed $29,000 in taxes lol. Then I cussed him out and said he was full of [***]. Then I called him back and told him what I thought about their scam and he said, "yes, we're a scam sorry." Get a life losers
