This is happening to me right now and I trusted it completely. Stripe, what I use for credit card payments, contacted me to inform me of a scam to this nature so I did research. How do I report him?
Tried to hire my services, and is an obvious scam artist. Terrible grammar, and claims to have a large budget for a small event; but can only pay by credit card / bank transfer. Very thick accent. Don't fall for it
Used a legitimate industry lead generation service to claim they were looking for an event vendor. Since the service is legitimate I responded with a written bid. They called me after I sent my bid and hung up. I called back and had a horrible connection, line dropping, sounded far away. Refused to pay deposit via Paypal or other legitimate service. Tried to get me to sign up for a business account - couldn't understand due to accent. Realized it was a scam. Offered to get payment in person and person claimed they were in hospital. I accused them of a scam and they hung up. True sign of scam: wants to book expensive services and doesn't ask any questions at all about your service before agreeing. Avoid and don't give out any personal info.
This sounds similar to the hotel scam whereby they try to book multiple rooms but will only pay by credit card. They say that they have to pay with two cards and give the numbers in advance. They then ask for the invoice in advance so that they can pre-pay . I think, I say I think because no one is quite sure, they then send an e-mail saying they have overpaid into your card account and could you return the difference. Of course , there is no event or any hotel guest but they have had your money paid to them normally before their alleged payment has cleared ( it won't) to you account. There has been many posts on here detailing this scam but as I say It is normally decent quality Hotels and is done by e-mail. The person enquiring is normally based in the UAE , either Dubai or Sharjah . Ring any bells.
Owner of this number (claims Adam Kennedy) attempted to hire my wife for graphic design work via UpWork for $2,000. Proceeds to ask for her phone number to make contact easier. Continues by requesting to pay via World Pay instead of through UpWork. Claims to be in the hospital with cancer and untrusting of setting up credit card payment due to theft risk.
This guy pretends to be a military officer seeking a personal assistant. He posted his ad in care.Com and twice he contacted me with wanting to set up phone interview and never called.
I have the picture he posted on care.Com if anyone wants it.
