Have had this one several times. This time I told them I was recording the call. They hung up immediately.
Tired of this. DONT give them any info. Sometimes playing stupid is really smart :)
Got a call at 1:46pm today. Had answering machine on. They never left a message. I am on the do not call list. I get numerous calls from numerous numbers every day from the SAME SCAMMERS. It's total [***]. I'm sick of this!
I have no idea who they are or what they want. I hate when people do this, and they continue to get away with it. But what can we do to prevent it? I wish this service would do something other than post replies from angry recipients of these calls.
I got a call from this number on Feb 1st. Caller ID says it is a cell phone in California. I do think though, that scammers are now spoofing phone numbers very much like they spoof legitimate email addresses. Since the National Do Not Call List seems to be somewhat of a failure now, there is no way around it these scammers other than to just not answer the phone unless you recognize the number on the caller ID.
Scammers and spammers have made our email and phone lives terrible! Thankfully there is much more to life that IS enjoyable! :)
I got a robo recording about credit card rate reductions available to me, and prompting me to dial 9 if interested. I knew this was out of form so I asked the woman what organization she represented, She said it was Visa and MasterCrad. I asked specifically to which Visa or Mastercard she was referring. She said "all credit cards, the service is available for all card holders wanting to lower their interest rate." She babbled into her spiel that i interrupted saying I'd like to be placed on the Do not Call list. She asked to what do not call list was referring? I said your organization's do not call list. She told me I needed to check the terms of my credit card agreement which gives them the right to make such calls. Then she got personal. She told me my attitude is exactly what's wrong with America (if only)--people don't trust anyone, they think everyone's out to get them. She asked if I really thought they (her organization) would be cheating customers through Visa, then she huffed "Please give me a break!" I was trying to interrupt but she was on a tear. She told me it's exactly "that kind of attitude that has landed me in my current situation." (Oddly, I've never carried a credit card balance for more than 90 days in my LIFE, and ALL regular day-to-day purchases are paid off each month: Clearly she was fishing without a worm here.)
I responded that I had her number and was going to report her. She hung up. I redialed the number in my Recents (310) 986-9762 and got the recording that it had been disconnected or was no longer in use.
What a crazy! How can I help stop these bottom-feeders?
