Claimed to be 411 USA and were looking for businesses to add to their listings because the product we manufacture was in high demand. Told them we are in Quebec,Canada (which we are) and then they hung up. Seems like if they were legit they would have realized that we are not in the USA....
Our company received a call from this number at 1417 hours today. Caller ID said simply "Illinois" which alerted me to the fact that it was either a spam or scam phone call. There was a bloop noise, then someone picked up on the other end. There was a lot of background noise and chatter so it was obviously a boiler-room type call. A woman with a strong, possibly Indian accent asked, "Is this [name of our company]?" I replied, yes. She said, "Thankfully I finally found you!" (Yeah, because she's been trying oh-so-hard to contact our particular company. Riiiight.) She said she was looking for a company to do "home repairs," did we do "home repairs"? I told her that we only specialize in oil and propane. She said, oh, then thanked me and disconnected. I have no idea what their angle was supposed to be.
I am absolutely positive Thrifty Car Rental sold my phone number to other companies. Be wise and DO NOT give Thrifty your real phone number if you sign up for their blue chip program. Shame on them!
