Yup, got the same hokey text message from this moron today. Same 20 year anniversary story as well as the credit card thing. I texted him back this URL and blocked him on my phone.

Glad I looked up the number. Never have had my group contracted via text. Got the same text as everyone else. Gonna tell him I will make my musician friends aware of his scam, then block him. Thanks guys!

I got a series of texts from 732-964-8990.  I guess I'm the latest victim of the scam against musicians.  I let it go pretty far.  This guy is good.  Same James who has been using 312-480-2709 to scam other bands, if you want to see the summary of trouble he's caused.  His email is [email protected]

As of 7-22-15 he's still at it. He's pretty brazen. Here's my exchange with him.

I too received a series of almost the exact texts last night, but from 732-964-8990. I've never done business via text, but this person's dilemma/ challenge seemed plausible. He said he got my name through a friend at St. Augustine's Church named Rose and then googled me. I checked the Real Property Database in my state and there was no property listed at the address James Wallace gave me, he wouldn't answer questions about his wife's name, and seemed eager to wrap this up with a contract.  With all that, it wasn't until he wanted to tip me and put $1770 more on his credit card that I searched for the email address.  Amazing what you find (this site).
