Broke my own rule and answered a call from a number I didn't recognize. A guy claiming to be Jerry from Acme asked for me by name. I asked, "Jerry from where?" and he said something like, "Sorry, dude." Then he went into a spiel about me being pre-qualified for business financing or something, and hung up when I mentioned the DNC list.
didn't answer and some guy left a one-word voicemail. i think their trick is to simply say your name (in an interrogative tone) to get you curious enough to call them back.
Two calls in the last two days from this number. First time I tried to see how much I could get out of him - we got stuck in a loop after I asked which company he was referring to that was pre-qualified for financing. Didn't pick up the second time.
Been getting calls from this number for a few days, same thing as above. I answer and the guys asked for me by name, I ask and he tells me he's from, Acme and goes right into some sales pitch asking for my info saying I qulified for a $250k bus loan, I laughed and hung up. That is all, should have messed with him a little but I just didn't feel like dealing with him.
