This number texted me but called me by a name only my close family know me as. It said someone was talking to me and directed me to an app on the app store. If this company is trying to market their app, they are doing it in a very creepy way and I would not download the app after that weird spam.

These are traps to get you think you are missing out on some bs app no one knows about or cares about. So the scam is they want to sell something you don't need or maybe phish for info? No matter. Ignore and report to your carrier.
