Has to be a scam. I never ordered or inquired about auto parts.
Here's the message that they left. My voicemail transcribed it.
“Yeah hi this is Jason from quality on regarding the request ___ ______ online I do have it in stock ______ me back on my direct number 1-800-505-5383 eight ___ ask for Jason I repeat it's one 800 505538 and ask for Jason thank you…”
Yesterday I filled out a form on a website called Automotix.net - a parts locator service. I am searching for 5 used OEM German steel wheels for an older VW, The form requested an email address and phone number. Automotix posted my request through their network of automotive parts suppliers (at no charge for 7 days). This morning I received an email from QualityAutoParts in Cleveland advising they had locating the wheels. I called the customer service number and spoke with Allison. She was friendly. Quality wanted me to pre-pay the sum of $185.00 per wheel, plus shipping. After payment, I would receive documentation that would allow me to accept or reject the order. Since I am looking for specific date stamped wheels, I asked if photos of the wheels could be sent prior to payment. I was told the wheels were in a distributor's warehouse and no photos were available before payment. I thought this was much too risky and declined to purchase the items. Received a call this evening from 312-878-9158. They left no voicemail. I don't mind answering the call, but shall see if they continue to call given I have rejected purchasing sight unseen.
