Just got a call from it - guess that they'd tried one of my Skype US numbers, which bounces through to my mobile phone (UK talk - to you in the US, it would be cellphone!). They'd have had a job trying to renew any car warranty, as I don't own a car, nor have I ever taken a driving test!
FOLKS: I'm don't think this is coincidence, and I think CARMAX IS BEHIND THIS. They would have both my cell phone number and landline, which the called today within a min.utes of each othe. AND, yesterday, I was browsing the CARMAX SITE looking for a VEHICLE, and UP POPPED A SURVEY asking me a dozen questions about when I may want to purchase, its urgency, etc, and I answerfed them all. I WAS LOGGED INTO my CARMAX ACCOUNT on the website when I took the popup survey.
SO, QUESTION.... DO ANY OF YOU HAVE A CARMAX VEHICLE that you've purched from them (mine was 7 yrs ago!), whether or not you were logged in or took a survey? Seems coincidence they call BOTH my numbers the NEXT DAY and from this number in DETROIT, MICHIGAN, home of the car manufacturering city AND aslso asking abou CAR insurance to some of you??
I took the call but said nothing. It was silent between the scammer and i for twenty-one seconds. I dpnt have money to buy a car nor have i heard of/from Carmex. I just grow so bloody tired of calls like this.
I bought a used car 5 yrs. ago along with an extended warranty. That warranty is due to expire in December. I am not sure if it is a Carmax car though. I just received a call from this # 5 minutes ago. Message left was dead air.
Received a computer generated automated call from this number today. I use a private VoIP number. I am also a Internet professional developer. I suspect the software used to make the calls, is simply progressing through a range of numbers to call. I recommend using a digital-based phone application or device, which enables setting a block of a specific phone number, after experiencing any unwanted automated caller's phone-number as reported on your caller ID system.
