I am disabled and disturbed that you would call government assistance a "handout" esp seeing thats exactly what you are working for, just from American citizens. You are exacerbating and embracing the stigma that disabled persons need as you call "handouts" by requesting handouts.
If you are so concerned about the issue, why dont you work on the issue within the legislature rather than spreading the concept of what you and all your so-called "trained" employees refer to as "handouts"
I made the mistake of answering a call on my cell phone from "unknown name, unknown number" and it turned out to be from someone from something called the "American Handicapped & Disadvantaged Workers". I was in a rush and couldn't talk so I blew off the call. I received 2 calls a day with the same "unknown name" which I didn't pick up for a week. Today I received a call from this number, it was the same man from this organization. I told him I was in a rush but I didn't want to be rude again so I listened. In the end I agreed to send a check for $25 after I received what ever gift it was they were sending. They asked twice if I would like to donate over the phone, I said no I do not give my information over the phone.
After reading about another number of this organizations on here, I'm worried. I did give them my address, if not my credit card number. Can I expect bills or phone calls from now on? Will I be getting harrassed by these people?
I receive at the least 2 calls per day. Last week I reported them on the do not call list, however, I still got a call today. Any suggestions on getting them to stop?
I too agreed to send 25$ after I received a free gift. I got two used light bulbs. I sealed and Return to sender the box. Continued to get invoices from them. Couldn't reach them by phone. Finally after 4 weeks, they called me about my payment due. I explained that their gift was returned and to discontinue calling me. Three weeks later, I now have received a letter/invoice again, this time threatening to disrupt my credit report if I don't pay up.!! 800 343 3680 out of Phoenix Arizona. I will try to call them again, not likely to have any luck.
