Called nice on my home phone, let message machine pick up. Only received automated voice replying to call this number 315-512-2279. I called back on unlisted number, I got a busy signal. I see from other replies on numerous searches it is a IRS telemarketer scam.
HINT people, IRS will not call your home about tax issues ever. They send a official a notice by mail, every time. You can call them but they are not in the practice to make calls about errant issues.
This is why I do not pick up my phone to unknown numbers ever. I usually search unwon numbers like this on the internet first to see if they have complains about them. Sometimes i call them back on my unlisted phone and am prepared to hang up on them or ask a bunch of questions and waste their time.
I called this number back and someone with an accent answered. I gave an alias name and did not give any information. I think it is a scam as well. I agree from what I looked up if the IRS is suing you they would not call you over the phone.
