Randomly started receiving one call per day, then two every morning, then call after call after call every single day. Tried to call them back, but they were too busy for my call. It appears it IS a collections agency for Dish Network, which it great for me, because I'VE NEVER HAD DISH NETWORK. Looks like someone is using my phone number for their bad credit issues - this should be fun to try to convince CBE of! [***] better stop calling my number; 5+ calls per day is harassment, especially when it's NOT FOR ME!
Got a call from this number on my work blackberry. Called back and was connected to a live rep in less than a minute. They told me the name of the person they were looking for, explained that it wasn't me and that I just got this number recently. He apologized and marked the record as a wrong number. Quick and easy, contrary to other experiences here. Now, if they call again, I'll be annoyed. The guy with my # before was a delinquent. I've gotten calls from the power, gas, satellite, and cable companies for past due bills.
I received a call from these folks (CBE)at 8am on a Saturday morning! Neither my husband nor myself were pleased. Anyway, I called them back and it was a debt collection agency looking for the person who used to have our phone number. The CSR said she would remove our # from the database...I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that they do!
They called today and asked for Mary. I said "you have the wrong number." They then proceeded to ask if I had her number. What? I am sorry, but which Mary's number was it you are looking for? And could you pick a more "generic" type of a female name. It like asking for John, or Mr. Smith! You have a good chance of getting someone by that name. But do not know who it actually was.
This number had called my Verizon cell phone several times a week; I finally called the number myself. It turns out that either a data entry error was made on an auto-dialer or someone supplied a made-up number (mine). (My phone's number has been on the national do-not-call list for eight years...)
