Called saying it was microsoft and wanted me to start pressing a bunch of keys saying my computer was about to crash. Couldn't understand half the things they were saying in Pakastanian.Finally hung up
We've received numerous calls from this phone number and other 320-555-XXXX numbers. Our policy is to let the answering machine pick up any incoming calls for which we don't recognize the number. Then, we take the most persistent criminals (well, they are in violation of the National Do Not Call Registry) and program them into our wireless phone "Blocked Callers" registry which holds 30 numbers. Even that is not a completely satisfactory solution...we still need to either get to the phone within 4 rings to read the caller's number displayed on the window or listen to the answering machine for each call. And, worse yet, the Blocked Callers registry still allows the phone to ring once before hanging up...disturbing my nap (well, I am 75 years old!).
They have apparently changed their scam - I didn't answer but machine recorded message while I listened. Apparently I'm wanted by the treasury, I'll be going before a federal grand jury with possible prison time if I don't call them back. They ended the call with "Have a nice day" Never mentioned my name, and it was an obvious recording, and not a very well spoken one. I certainly hope people don't fall for this. I've reported the phone number to the treasury, although if it's coming from a foreign country I'm not sure how much they can do.
