I really like the idea presented by mk & since I used to deal with IRATE cx's as my day job, I really know how to fool someone into thinking I feel 1 way, while I actually feel another! These [***] call me daily. I live in Ontario & usually get a call from them by 10:15 am E.S.T. Since I am off tomorrow, I am going to take mk`s advice & string these fools along. In fact since I only work 3 nights a week (damn recession...Anyone hiring..LOL) I am going to do this DAILY & see what sort of records I can break, as far as how long I can keep THEM on the line! I dunno what they have for a long distance company, but Instead of wasting my energy getting angry at these dumb [***], I will attempt to turn the tables, & have some FUN with it! I wish I would have thought of this or read MK`s post earlier, as the idiots JUST CALLED...Hence the reason I am here right now! I dunno if you guys are in a similar situation as me (alot of free time ``UNWANTED``), but if we can get enough of us to do what I am going to do, it would accomplish 2 things at least. 1)We get some FREE ENTERTAINMENT & 2)By keeping someone on the line with us, we are preventing them from calling someone else during our time on the phone with them, like an elderly person, who doesn`t know better & could get scammed! So if ya have the time, have some FUN! Turn the tables on these jerkoffs!
These calls are not legitimate fraud calls, they are illegal credit card scams. That is why they hang up on people if you don't immediately indicate to them you're dumb enough to fall for their scam. It is also the same reason why no matter what you say to them they are not ever going to take you off of "their list" so don't waste your breath asking them. Only legal businesses that are operating within the bounds of the law are going to honour the an honest person's request to stop calling or to be removed from the call list.
Pressing a number to talk to someone, whether you're interested in getting suckered unknowingly into their scam, or if you just want to complain to someone, you are totally wasting your time. They DO NOT CARE what you think or what you want. They make millions of dollars off of these scams ripping people off. Why would they have even the smallest bit of human decency to give a crap about someone's complaints?
The only way to win this game is not to play. Do not answer the telephone if you know that it is a fraud call or suspect that the number calling is a fraud call. If you do answer the phone and get any pre-recorded voice message - hang up immediately without pressing any numbers and without saying anything at all. Leave the phone hung up for a good 10-15 seconds or more to make sure the call is disconnected if you're going to then block the number using Call Screening, Call Privacy or any other similar feature offered by your phone company.
Also note that scammers can send FAKE CallerID information to your phone (google it), to pretend to be calling from one name/number when they are actually using a totally different number, and they can do this to impersonate your bank or any other business, simply by using that businesses phone number.
The only way to win at this, is to straight out not take any solicitation, advertising, telemarketing telephone calls all all whatsoever. Just hang up immediately, and if you get called back multiple times by the same number, file a complaint with the CRTC (in Canada) or the FCC (in the US), and call your telephone company to file a complaint as well as any national telemarketing "do not call" block lists (although those will not screen out illegal calls of course).
Oops, the first sentence of my prior post should have read "These calls are not legitimate calls, they are illegal fraud calls which are illegal credit card scams"
i got a call from this number too. I live in Ontario, Canada. I also had the "press one " option. I did that, I spoke with a lady claiming to be from Card Services. The lady ask me if I had over 3K on my credit card, she then ask me how much. I told none of your business, I then told who the Hell are you? she hung up. I called back and got "busy signal".
Same as usual," this is jessica or Rachel from Cardholder services". Press 1 they put you into loop probably charging excessive rates. never get to speak. From above comments sounds like they are after your card details to fund "something else of a criminal nature" As UK cop I came accross similar schemes in UK and Europe which were actually based out of Nigeria. Do not give them anything, if they do not know your full credit card details etc they are fishing. Any Legitimate financial company will NEVER ask for your card details, passwords, numbers etc. If I am wrong then "Jessica" you can call me personally, you have my number apparently and you can tell me exactly who you are working for with credentials, but i won't hold my breath on this one, you'll also get nothing from me.
for 4+ years, every few months i've been getting blitzes of calls from the same recorded voice (but different caller ID#) talking about: 'there's nothing currently wrong with my account, but it's important I press one to lower my credit card interest rate...'
doesn't matter what I do... every couple of months the recorded voice comes back for another blitz. asking to be removed does NOTHING...
