the same thing has happened to me. The first time it happened l I answered my phone. They threatened to put me in jail if I didn't pay for some bad check that were about 20 years old. I told him those checks had been stolen and I I had been cleared of any liability. I hung up on them. Now, when I get a call from a number I do not recognize I allow it goto voice mail and then check it. O
f course, the scammer is not going to leave a V.M.
Scam about bounced checks and collecting a debt. They put people in jail for check fraud, not call you after 20 years from a bank that's been closed since 2006. SCAMMERS. Reporting to the Federal Trade Commission as well
These people have called me non stop from about 15 different phone numbers. Every time i get a call that I do not know the number I look it up and more often than not find out information like this. So I have not answered one of these calls yet they keep calling back from different numbers. If you have some sort of legitimate business I need to take care of, leave a d**n voice mail. In all of my probably well over 100 calls in the past few months from these people, not one have left a voice mail.
I received a call at work yesterday which the recording said something about a check and a warrant being filed. When I pressed 1 for rep as instructed the phone rang and rang and rang no one ever answered.....I was going to tell them to take the number off their call list.
