the same thing has happened to me. The first time it happened l I answered my phone. They threatened to put me in jail if I didn't pay for some bad check that were about 20 years old. I told him those checks had been stolen and I I had been cleared of any liability. I hung up on them. Now, when I get a call from a number I do not recognize I allow it goto voice mail and then check it. O
f course, the scammer is not going to leave a V.M.
Same as the guy said above. I use extreme call blocker on android. Best couple bucks I ever spent. It just blocks the number and never lets it go to voice mail either when they try to call. These jokers change numbers frequently
They call me a lot- say I owe on a bounced check for a pizza company,
From 17 years ago, for a check that lists an address I never lived at.
So I had fun with them today because I now know they are scammers.
10 solid minutes of me trying to get them to say they are a collections company.
They want to collect but they are not collections, they aren't authorized to take legal action, but will forward your info to a retail checking whatever. They ask if you have proof of fraud which I had- 17 years ago.
Told them "I have a background in the criminal justice system" which I do - all of a sudden they didn't want to talk to me anymore.
