if you want to make these blood suckers stop calling, do what I did. call the number back and then put it on hold and call again and conference call them together. its quite funny listing to them talk to each other. after a few days of doing this they block your number. it works!
I am currently in a class action lawsuit against them now for robo dialing cell phones. They called today and have been told over and over to stop calling. I have sent them a cease and desist letter before, now am going thru the FTC am so sick of these calls and they NEVER EVER leave a message. You think they would get that people post numbers on here, but then again the nasty scum bags that work there do need a brain!!
What a bunch of idiots you aren't responsible for that bill. You work for the Government how about pushing it thru and file complaints and report them for harrassment and so forth. Then again what dept do you work for lol
That's why you do NOT verify who you are, ask them questions as to who they are calling for, what is the reason for their call, and here is the best part, advise them that you are also recording the phone conversation as they do, they will hang up immediately. They can record you but you can't record them. [***] they are.
Legally they can not make you pay... But I am sure that out of the hundreds of new spouses that they call and say to pay an old debt of their husband some of them do pay it. If 1 out of 100 pay than they are happy. They get lists of phone numbers to call for old debts and hope to get anyone to either pay the debt or start a payment plan up. Honestly new husbands and wives are probably the most likely ones to pay the debt, because if they have always been on top of their bills their whole life and have good credit they could be scared that this debt is going to effect their credit because they are being called. I don't think that you can sue them for calling you and asking you to pay a debt for someone that you married. It's kinda like how your money is their money and their debt becomes your debt, your credit score just can't be effected by it but when his is it could effect you down the road if you both try to buy something togather like a house.
