if you knew who the number belonged to then why did you look it up? Why should anyone have to answer an unknown caller, let alone be "polite" to them? Most likely this is a call center calling and claiming they are collecting for a charity, but in reality only donating 1 or 2 per cent to the charity and pocketing the rest of the money.
