I just got the below email from Steve Scuba aka Scuba Steve...

I was suspicious at first but by the time i got to the end of the email I was certain. Thanks for the confirmation on this webpage. Hope no one got ripped off too bad. Praying on artists is lower than low. Most artists are dirt poor and $1000-3000 sounds like a pay day you want to believe.

I received an email from "Steve J Simpson" with this phone number. He attempted to purchase my art for "His wife's 20th anniversary, "  with a fraudulent check scheme. He asked for my full name, address, and cell phone number. and  said someone would come to my studio to pick up the art for shipping. I emailed him back that if he saw my website he would know my name and that I do not give out my cell phone number. I also said that sent me a check, I would have the bank hold it for 10 business days, and I would only use a shipper of my choice. Of course I haven't heard back from him. I reported the phone number (3223745218) and  email address ([email protected]) to gmail and my local police. I will also report it to the FBI and others.

Yes, it is a scam.  I received the following email.

Looks like I almost got taken as well but the amount he said he wanted to spend didn't fit.  The way he wrote in English was slightly off as well.  This time he used the name Richard Brown with that same phone number and initial message about the "anniversary gift".  Thanks for posting the information here so that it will stop happening - especially to artists!
