Well they called again! These people just don't give up. Says he is from Windows Technical Dept. Ask his name and he said Peter Anderson. I asked where he is and he said San Francisco. I asked his phone number (altho it was on caller ID) and he told me he didn't have a phone. I said...oh really, then how are you calling me? I started to laugh and he said....what are you laughing about? I said.....I don't even own a computer. He said......don't laugh, this is my job. I told him to get a new job and hung up. Heavy accent and no way was his name Peter Anderson. I am reporting it to https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx
These people are relentless
Didnt recognize the number on caller ID, but my moms office is that same area code, so i decided to answer phone, It was the Indian accented man, but i couldn't understand him, he sort of mumbled, so i said excuse me, i can't hear you-about 3 times, he finally yelled, in HEAVILY ACCENTED VOICE "YOU ARE A MUTHERF**KER YOU FU*KING BI*CH" and then he quickly hung up before i could tell him-"how do you know so much about me" i guess they teach them-you're computer has a virus, microsoft, and mutherfucker [***]!
Microsoft Windows trying to tell me they were tracing virus activity to my computer. Kind of hard for him to go through his script when I'm trying to follow him on ubuntu. He was totally flabbergasted. Lol, fun times.
Consumers should know that the call-back number for these "virus" people can be any legitimate phone number. They claim to be from Microsoft. Once I got the same kind of call and when I called back it was the "Geek Squad." I was told that the Geek Squad would not have been calling me. The scammers somehow show a legitimate number. I was told by the scammer that a virus was "showing" up t Microsoft. A friend of mine actually allowed someone to go into his computer and do something. Luckily, no virus was found.
The number above showed up Friday on my phone (March 21).
Received similar call from Microsoft that my computer in serious trouble. I had trouble understanding the man with heavy accent. Told him I'm not buying anything, on a do not call list. He just started up again with script. I hung up. Same number appeared again as he tried calling back. Did not answer. Can't anybody stop this crap from happening?
REC'D 2 CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER. CALLER CLAIMED (IN A VERY HEAVY ACCENT) THAT MY COMPUTER IS HAVING BIG TROUBLES. CLAIMED TO BE WITH WINDOWS TECHNICAL DEPT. I ASKED FOR A NUMBER WHERE I COULD CALL BACK. REACHED HIM AT 415-226-6911, SAID HE WAS IN CALIFORNIA, I ASKED FOR AN ADDRESS. HE ASKED WHY, I SAID FOR VERIFICATION THAT HE IS IN THE USA---HE SAID I SHOULD JUST BELIEVE. I HUNG UP. VERY CREEPY.
