Received a call from this number early this morning. They left a very garbled voicemail and all you heard was something about a conviction and trial. They said I owed the IRS $5,000 and that if I did not pay it right away that they would have a Marshall come to my home, arrest me and take me to Washington. Two males with an accent and very aggressive. They advised me not to tell anyone about this debt and even asked if I had a criminal lawyer!! I almost fell for it but when I spoke to my accountant he actually laughed and said it was a scam.
I got two phone calls from this 323-729-3662 phone number identifying themselves as "U S Department of the Treasury.". Really? I think not people. Thank you for the internet so we can see what has happened to each other. She said there is a warrant out for my arrest. Again, REALLY? When I said I would report this, she finally hung up on me!
Just received a call from this number. I call then back gave the a wrong name and waited. After hearing that George Washington was the caller, the hung up. This is fun folks play with them.
I guess I'm the lucky one. This has been going on for the last week on my landline, which I hardly ever answer. If a caller wants to reach me they have to leave a message on my answering machine. So I have been getting calls and messages from two numbers 323.729.3662 and lucky me 646.593.8117, both with the same message. So I guess I must be in double trouble. LOL! They said that my Federal Tax Return for 2012 was miscalculated and that I owed over $4,000 in penalties and fines.
So if they don't want us to forward them money, he told me that he was not calling to collect any money but was calling to advise me that this was a felony and I was going to be arrested. What do these people want anyway?
They almost got me, they want you to send money to "the main IRS office in Washington D.C." via a IRS voucher that turns out to be a prepaid money card through ReLoad it. Not a money order, not credit card. Gotta spend cash at a local store to purchase the ReLoadIt card and add money to it. Our they try to get your account info like what bank you use. Almost got me. When I asked why can't I verify who you are his answer was, "I told you, you don't have to worry about it." You can tell me all you want. I don't know you! I asked why can't I pay with a U.S. postal money order, which the government always accepts. "This is the only way." Nope! Don't think so.
