Just got a call tonight from this number. Indian man, hard to understand, lots of background noise. Claimed to be withTWC. Wanted to send me $100 gift card and supplements. Asked how he got my number & he hung up on me.
I had the same call except I could hardly understand the man because of his heavy accent. He kept asking me if what he was offering was "okay". Since I could not clearly understand, I was not about to say "okay". It never got to the point where I understood that he was asking for shipping charges. He just said he would call back in half an hour. He didn't call back.
Ditto as everyone else. Indian man with from Comcast called me from this number with a strong accent and lots of background noise. He said his name was Jack. He kept asking questions and saying "okay". I told him to email the information to me on Comcast letterhead, but he said that all the info was online and that I would get all the confirmation information in a welcome letter that he'd send, once I paid the $9.99. I expressed disbelief but he insisted that his claims were true and that I should believe him because my bank would protect me against unauthorized transactions. He even invited me to check out the website. I told him to call me back in 10 mins while I checked out the legitimacy of his claim. To my surprise HE DID CALL BACK!!!
When he called me back, just for kicks, I told him that he didn't give me the email address to check for the legitimacy. For a minute, he stammered. He didn't know the name of the Comcast website!!! Finally, he told me that he would send the email address to me by mail. "No", I insisted. "Just give it to me now. If you work there and awarding prizes, then certainly you know the name of the website". I could tell that he was very nervous as I had caught him off guard. Then he blurted out go to Comcast.com and watch the slide show. Of course I went to the website and found that there was no such "slide show" presentation on the website. Then I called his bluff and told him that this is fraud; a scam. What he was doing was wrong and that he shouldn't be trying to cheat people out of their money like this. He insisted that the prize was real and that if I didn't want to accept the prize, they'd just select another random phone number for the drawing.
I hate to think that some poor old lady living on a fixed income may fall into this scam... BE WARE!!!!!
