Thursday 2/13/2014, started getting calls on the landline house phone, and this guy called my 86 year old mom Tia(aunt) so my mom thought it was her nephew Eddie. So he kept calling my mom and made her believe he was in town and would come by to see her. When my mom told me that Eddie was coming to visit we were happy that he was going to pay us a visit while he was on a business trip. We live south of Houston, TX and we assumed Eddie was passing through on a business.
Friday 2/14/2014, this guy that assumed the name of Eddie, called my mom again twice to say he was on his way to visit us.
He was calling from a phone number of 331-925-9048.
He called on Feb 13, Thursday 7:20 pm.
He started calling again Feb 14, Friday 9:44am, 10:41am, 10:42am, 10:44am, 10:46am, 11:25am, 11:27am AND 12:10pm.
When I talked to this guy that was calling himself, Eddie, he told me that he had rear ended another vehicle in Houston and that he didn't have insurance and would be arrested if he didn't pay the owner of the other vehicle he hit. He said the other guy was willing to give him a break and not call the police if he paid him a down payment of $700.00 cash and the rest of the money later.
I started getting suspicious when I realized this Eddie guy didn't really sound like my cousin. I made a quick call to my real cousin Eddie's wife and she assured me that Eddie was at a job site nearby her house near Corpus Christi, TX.
When the fake Eddie called me back to give me instructions on where to Western Union money to Mexico to cover for damages, I decided to do a little Columbo work myself. I asked him what his last name was, and at that point he quickly hung up the telephone on me.
Now I see all these other reports about this same Mexican scammer trying to rip of old people. I hope I goes to hell.
