We have an number/IP tracer software. This call is ultimately coming from unbelievably an Pakistani IP. My boyfriend couldn't believe it, so he called back on the speaker phone.
Heavy accent, poor English, difficult to understand. In the background was the Moslem call, Alla akdhar or something.
Fraud obviously. Moslem terrorists trying to raise funds probably.
Voicemail said "an important legal matter" to call back #347-321-8018. I called out of curiosity as I have no legal issues. He told me that he represented the US Treasury Dept and that I have ignored their mail correspondence. I told him I haven't received anything from the IRS/Treasury Dept. at which point he said that MY ARREST would happen tonight at my home. I told him he was a giant piece of !#&?...and he hung up!
Said I had a legal matter and asked if I had received the info said no you are a scam and the hung up. I called back and asked to talk to the scammer and they hung up again.
A Shawn Anderson identified himself as calling from the Dept. of Legal Affairs. When I said Dept. of Legal Affairs where?, he responded, U. S. Treasury, and said they had mailed my son three messages in the last month, about a legal matter he could not divulge. He said he was calling from Bklyn, and when I was suspicious suggested I verify at the office of Dwayne McGuire, telephone # above. I called and got a woman; when I asked if she was in Bklyn she said, the Bronx. Also that if I did not have my son telephone them the next thing he received would be an arrest warrant. Meanwhile, I checked the reverse lookup and saw that the call came from Bayside. I told her I would report her as a scammer, and she hung up on me.
Woman's voice said "This is an important message for you. I'd like you to call me back at 347-321-8018. To resolve this legal issue that needs your immediate attention. Once again that number is 347-321-8018. Please call back right now."
