We have an number/IP tracer software. This call is ultimately coming from unbelievably an Pakistani IP. My boyfriend couldn't believe it, so he called back on the speaker phone.
Heavy accent, poor English, difficult to understand. In the background was the Moslem call, Alla akdhar or something.
Fraud obviously. Moslem terrorists trying to raise funds probably.
Received a call (NYC number on caller ID) from a man named Kevin Green who was looking to talk to my husband. He was not home so I asked to take a message. He said his badge number was 1161800263 and that my husband had a legal matter with the US Treasury and should call 347-321-8018 immediately to avoid arrest. We have no legal or outstanding matters with the US Treasury or any other government office.
Caller left a voice mail, knew our name, and indicated it was regarding a very important legal matter. He said there was an action being taken against us. Asked us to call the phone # (the same # that showed up on caller i.d.) and then proceeded to tell us to "have a blessed day." Caller id indicates it is a New York phone #. Definitely a scam.
Got the same "important legal matter" message. I work at an accounting office that deals with the IRS and Dept. of Treasury on a regular basis and I can say for a fact......the government does NOT call, they LOVE their paperwork and will only correspond through the mail.
Got the same "important legal matter message" twice today. The messages were "exactly the same"; had to be a recording. It was a woman's voice. It said "call right now." There was no identification of the caller; just the number.
