Heavy foreign accent (SE Asia?) from the Dept. of Treasury informing me of a "legal emergency" that need to be resolved immediately. Vaguely remember some similar bogus scam messages left weeks earlier. After some testy back and forth about getting him to tell me who he was calling from (never the exact same answer) or why they did not send a certified letter (we did, but you were not home to sign) he finally told me to call, this number 347-352-8557, x115 Danny Watson. Called back immediately to speak with 'Danny', and after some phone fumbling, the "security desk" sadly informed me he had left for the day. Very nasty scam and belligerent as well. Any connection to the similar accented individual who called from 206 462-5449 yesterday insisting that my windows 7 computer had been hacked and I needed to immediately give him info on the machine?
Same exact person named Jeff and from the same dept of Legal Affairs/Office of US Treasury. Said he was sending someone...lol to come pick me up at my home address. I BLOCKED the number! Sad ppl have to resort to this type of stuff.
He did have a foreign accent too.
Just got a call from 347-352-8557. I only called back because for years, we've been hounded by collection agencies for a Mark Mosley. This twerp uses our phone number in his loan applications, and then doesn't pay back any of his bills, apparently. So, I usually call these collection agencies back, tell them to we don't know this crook, and quit calling me. A guy with a foreign accent told me I was going to get arrested by the Feds if I didn't pay 2011 back taxes of over $3500. I've also had been sending letters to the US Treasury Dept. on an upcoming decision to be made by them as to whether or not to slash my Central States Pension, so at first, I believed the call was about that, too!!!! But, when he told me why he was calling, FINALLY, and demanded $3500+, I knew this was a scam and started screaming at him!!!! He took offense and slammed the phone down!!!! I immediately called my brother, who is a law enforcement officer for the IRS. There is a we site that the IRS has set up for people to report phone numbers of these scam artists. Look on www.IRS.gov/fraud, I think. I've reported several numbers in the past, but haven't lately, so I'm not completely sure of the web addy, but I think that's it. My brother says the IRS does try to investigate these numbers. The operative word being, "try."
Got a phone call this morning at 5:45am from "the Department of Financial Affairs", where a heavily accented man wanted my "lawyers information for legal paperwork". I said I had to let him know he was on a recorded line. He said "F%#€ you", and hung up. 347-284-6151 is the number on caller id
This call came in at 7:39 a.m. PST to my home number requesting a call back. I called them back and reminded them it was against the law to call this early on a home phone, requested their company name and she said she was sorry and hung up on me.
