Called me twice leaving threatening messages about I'm getting sued by the IRS. I didn't answer, but decided to call them back just to see who it was (I suspected a scam as I have no issues with the IRS). "David Frost" with ID number 210993 answered (with a lot of background noise) claiming to be working for the IRS in Wash., DC. He then wanted to know I was and I said he had called me twice, he already knew who I was. When I then told him this was a NY number, he changed his tune and said that he worked for the IRS in DC, but was calling from NY. I played a BS card and said that if I was getting sued by the IRS, to send the papers and hung up.
Just received this call as well. If the IRS was going to come after you for money, they would send you multiple letters in the mail. They would NEVER call.
Got a call at 1:03 pm on the 5th of August, 2015. The caller gave the number listed above, saying I was being sued by the IRS. I did not answer, they left message.
I received the same call yesterday (8-4-15) around 12:50pm. I was told that I committed tax fraud from 2010 to 2013. I owed IRS about $3,110 and they have sent an arresting officer at my address. Fortunately, I moved since last year, they have my old address. They asked me if I had enough funds to make payments and also the name of my bank. When I told them I didn't feel comfortable in giving personal information, the guy got mad and told me that this is going to me on my records and an arresting officer will come and arrest me. They pressured me enough and I almost gave in until they asked my for the name of my bank.
After I hung up, I called the IRS to verify my status with them. Sure enough, they confirmed it was an IRS scam. They told me that they know where I am, if they had any issues with me, they would write to me and not call to threaten me. They gave me phone # 1-800-366-4484 to report the scam. Folks, be very careful not to fall for this scam. Scamming is very much alive out there.
Well I got the same call from 347-408-1466. I couldn't find any IRS number matching this one.
I did notice that it was a New York prefix. I called back and they ask for me to leave a message. I said, "If you want to talk to me, call me, you know who I am."
On the plus I checked to make sure my taxes were paid.
Thanks for all the other comments and advice. SJM
