Tried to rent an apartment in San Diego from out of state. Sent him a check for first months rent and deposit. He never sent me the keys and it turns out the apartment is occupied by someone else. Do not do business with "John Willey" or anyone with this phone number.
I just got a similar message from the guy and was suspicious so decided to look him up. Lo and behold, when I type in Daniel Honeycut, I automatically see a search suggestion from Google 'Daniel Honeycut Skanska'.
What can I do to make sure this doesn't happen to other people? Who do we report these folks to?
Same scam happening in Providence RI. The email replying to a request about the apartment is almost identical. The wording of the email seemed a bit off, and I'm glad I looked him up! If it seems too good to be true...
