Received two calls from this number, they left voicemails claiming that they were from the IRS and that I would go to prison. I am elderly, even though I know it's a scam it still upset me! I hate that they are doing this to people.
The message left from this number says it is from the IRS Internal Revenue Services and that it is a final notice to get more information about me. Of course its a scam. First of all, the name of the federal agency is IRS Internal Revenue Service (No S on the end). And they never telephone to "get more information about you." All correspondence from the IRS is initiated via US mail. Thirdly, if it was from the real IRS, my caller ID would say so, or at the very least identify the caller as Federal Government. Not Out of Area.
The phone message stated they were from IRS and was a final notice for a lawsuit filed against me. So glad I googled the area code and number. New York area code sounded strange to me. My son called back--definitely scammers--told them off. THANK YOU & HELP GET THE WORD OUT TO ELDERLY AND OTHERS!

This caller deserves to be sent to prison. He called my grandparents and told them they would be sent you prison. Now, I have a grandmother who is in terrible condition and took heart medication. One thing to remember is that IR never calls and how it's important to stop this from further happening. This is illegal and can actually have an effect on people like it has on my family right now. I have no words.
Caller ID just listed the number as New York, NY. Message claiming to be The Internal Revenue Services and the reason for the call is "The Internal Revenue Services is filing lawsuit against you", and asking me to call them for more information. I called and someone with an Indian accent stated he was "Officer Sam from the IRS", I could hear several other reps in the background, all with Indian accents in various stages of conversation about money people owe. When I asked "Sam" why he was calling people, claiming to be the IRS, He said that he is from the IRS and he began giggling, then put himself on mute.
It is so sad that there are people out there that actually fall for these scams.
