Don't worry I think it's a scam. My attorney is Koelher Law Office. They told me that after yesterday it was harrasment. Yes, I got the same call. I told them who my attorney was and they hung up on me.
The number is an not a legitimate business and changes the caller ID each time it calls - they are a scammer and trying to get information that should be in their files if they were legitimate. They are now targeting Hispanics. Do not call them back as that gives them the access to you by the simple contact. If you receive any call from the 347-829 prefix disregard and report it immediately. ABC uncovered a phone scamming ring out of California with ties to this group. Remember if you have been served or being sued, nobody will call you about it, it must go through the normal legal process and served to you personally and at that time you have options to take action. Never give out your SSN or the last 4 digits, address or phone number to anyone claiming to be from a law office, Microsoft (trying to gain access to your computer) a collection agency (they are governed by your local State) or anyone calling your number that you do not know. Ask for their phone number and address and name of the business they are representing, they will most likely hang up. The problem with these type of calls is that they will continue to call and there is nothing that can be done until you register your phone with the do not call list. At that time they are then subject to fines. These are cell phones that are purchased through MetroPCS (parent company T-Mobile) that are calling and are burner phones so they can dump them and continue down the list of phone numbers that they have purchased to defraud the consumer. Report any suspicious activity to your local police department and start fighting back at these people

In the meantime, you are going to have to do whatever you can to protect yourself. That includes letting them know they are running a scam and are reporting them to the authorities.
If you receive a call from any of these numbers they are Cell Phone that Metro PC has sold - they are not an Attorney nor is the person a Paralegal. If you owe a debt, you cannot be put in jail for it. This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

These are scammers that have purchased a list of names from various companies who sell lists and phone numbers never verifying that the number actually belongs to the person that they are calling. This is a SCAM. The law requires them to identify themselves as Debt Collectors, Attorneys representing a Company in order to collect a debt and that the phone number they are calling from has the company name which they are representing. The FTC has specific rules in place and these folks are just out to see if they can collect on old debts that have either reached the statue of limitations, check the local laws most debts cannot be collected after specific time frames. Debts that have reached the statue cannot be collected and any company trying to do so are the parties that are looking at jail time and violating the law that they so proudly spout out. These company have a specific format that they must use and these folks do not do so, maybe because they are actually calling lists that were debts etc. from hackers that have data mined them from agencies that used call centers in India who called on behalf of companies like Capital One. Do not call them back. A legitimate collection agency (which are getting bad reps due to these guys) or law firm will state: "This call is being recorded and any information that is received is to collect a debt or information about a debt." An attorney firm will not call you to collect a debt because it is too cost prohibitive and the monetary amount must be something that will glean them a profit so they will not be calling you about small amounts (under 1000.00).
