Sooner or later people that work in the info business and have the ability to trace the lines back will hunt them down and beat them to death, and everyone will rejoice!!
Just got a call from the "IRS" stating they have been trying to reach me and that they are going to sue me and that I needed to call 360-200-6820 right away. Ha ha - not a chance. Hopefully people will realize if they get such a call that it's a scam.
Got a call today, man says name was "Officer Peter Cooper" (English was second language) said I owed $3,986 to the IRS. Wanted cash only. Said that the local sheriff was going to arrest me today if I didn't pay up.
Two messages when I got home on my machine tonight. It starts IRS Internal Revenue ServiceS. We intend to file a lawsuit against you. Please call our department... Repeats the number twice.
After I reported the fraud to the IRS and blocked their number I have this to say.
Hmm... They might be more likely to convince me if they
A: knew what the initials IRS stood for
B: at least pretended to know my name or had a pretend case number
C: pretended that they knew anything about taxes.
Just in case anyone freaks out and calls them, DON'T by the way. I called from a blocked line to spout a line of legalese and got "the number you are calling has a voice mailbox that has not been set up yet."
Way to commit a fraud idiots. At least set up your voicemail so if anyone is dumb enough to be fooled by your scam, they get a voicemail if you've decided to go do more drugs.
PS the people who run this board need to add a new call type for scammers. More than 50% of the calls these days are not telemarketers, simply fraudsters trying to steal your money with some form of warranty scam, computer "virus" scam or Tax fraud like this.
