same 'irs' lawsuit filed against us nonsense. I called back twice and when I asked questions about their BS hung up on me (twice). Anyone know a way to track it back to who the number is owned by and call local police? Is that even an option. Clearly a scam, and targeting elderly.
Called 1:00pm while I was on the phone, so it went straight to VM & didn't show up on Caller ID.
VM = woman claiming to be from "Internal Revenue Services" (plural, not "Service") informing me that the "IRS is 'filing lawsuit against you'".
In short, the same poorly-executed scam reported by previous commenters.
This site might as well add "Scam"-- or at least "Probable Scam", if they prefer to give the scammers the benefit of the doubt-- as a "Call Type".
auto message called saying they are moving forward in a case against me from the IRS and to call this number to get more info. I called the number and a man with a strong Indian accent gave me his batch officer number and went on to state they are taking me to court and I owe close to $4000. I can only pay it today, right now, on the call or they will sue me through the courts. They did have some useful info on me like they knew my old address and knew I had recently moved which was why I didn't get their "IRS letters". They offered for me to meet with an IRS officer but only AFTER i paid the $4000. They could offer no paperwork which was the final straw and before I hung up he was actually yelling at me saying he will play this recorded call for the judge showing my indifference to owing the money to the IRS. absolutely unbelievable. I then hung up and called my tax accountant who said this is a scam. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS ONE!
