Caller immediately hung up when I answered. I called the number from my cell phone, and it immediately went to a voice mail message that said, "Thank you for calling back." If you are not interested in our promotions and wish to be put on our 'do-not-call list', please press 1 now..."
I never oblige these message requests with a response. I want them to think that I dialed a wrong number, thus not confirming their initial call to me. That would give them both my cell# and my landline# that they originally called.
**Spam Alert** Has never mattered that I have my home phone and cell phone on the National Do Not Call List. Not one day goes by that I am free of Spam callers.
You think that's bad - sounds like I got the same guy...
They called me every other day for weeks before I went through their hoops to find out who/what it is about.
They said they were 'my CC company' (lie) & after 20 min of spiel they asked me for info my CC should already have.
This being a huge red flag I tried to get more info, when she would not answer "Who are you really?" I told them
"I'm on the Do Not Call List - why are you calling me?" she hung up. 3 months later it started again, every week for
at least 6 more months. So now, thinking I must have missed the opt out key, I answered one of the calls to hopefully
be put on their own DNC list, cause they obviously ignore the national one - That's when I was truly appalled...
This man said he was 'Dwayne somebody' from (MY) card member services, I told him I answered to get him to stop calling, he said "That ain't gonna work" then I told him MY CC company said that he was lying & that THEY "don't call customers that way, & besides that, you are opted out from any sales type calls from us anyway."
I then asked again " I'm on the DNC list, Who are you really?" He said (now with even heavier Ebonics) "what chu be a [***]? I ba-da be Doe-wayne [***]... Yall is gone get lowum rate fum me..." He proceeded to jive talk unintelligibly until I hung up. Which seemed very strange to me, considering he sounded black himself, with his (at first subtle) Ebonic words & inflections that then grew into a full-on racial attack - on a white guy.
When I called back to complain to a supervisor the system then finally asked to "press 1 to be put on our DNC list" I did &
