(360) 329-4965 WA, USA
This is the number that I was told to call after a very foreign sounding person claiming to represent the U.S. Government and the Federal Reserve of New York about a 10,000$ grant I was lucky enough to receive.
This is a scam!
They asked if I'd like to receive my money through western union or money gram (to get you to a place YOU can send them money) in order to get the grant. Some BS about taxes or fees of $290.00 must be sent 1st before you get the money. DO NOT SEND MONEY TO THEM!!!!
This is a complete scam, the script has been read to me several times, just I had 5-6 No Caller ID calls yesterday and today and wanted them to stop so I picked up and was hearing a "boiler room" of foreigners before they went into the same script if heard before and had hit # 9 to be removed as when I asked to be removed from the other numbers they'd just hang up and calls would resume about a month later.
I listened just for my own curiosity and that's where it went today, so I'm supposed to pay $290.00 to get 10,000 grant money and set up an appointment to do so.
I can guarantee with 99.99% certainly that they would have you wire money to an overseas person/account and you will NOT get the $10,000. Sorry folks, but the government grants come by check or perhaps a direct deposit, have no taxes or fees and do not require money up front to be distributed.
Beware Folks, I hope these crooks get shut down.
Thanks,
AnnoyEd
Yeah i just got the same call. My fee was $280.00. As a ex MoneyGram agent i do know better. This is such a Scam. I hope no one falls for this and i do hope they get shut down
A foreigner named Esther Murphy told me I was awarded $10,000 for filing taxes, not filing bankrupt, and for not being a criminal. She said this was a grant from the govt. I told her this was unbelievable so she quickly suggested I call back to speak to the controlling officer and he would confirm everything. She then gave me a "grant approval" id number:yn7280 and told me to call back to give my account information. Then I asked her for the website and she gave www.usagovtgrants.org/personalgrants.html. I couldn't find the website so I called back to confirm. He refused to give me anything in writing and then hung up on me.
I went along with the scam called the callback number and ended up speaking with an Indian man named Charlie Johnson. He went on about wiring 280 dollars an getting it along with 10k back. Then finally I told him I know he is running a scam and I know his address and he doesn't sounds like any Charlie Johnson I've ever heard of he quickly hung up on me
Just got a call a few minutes ago. I love how easy it has become to be informed of scams. They also verified my personal information, then proceeded to tell me to call the number and give them the code AL525. And they asked me if I wanted to recieve the money by credit card, bank, or western union.
